Fatigue is a common consequence of chronic liver disease. Patients should alter their regimen to include periods of rest, but they should maintain physical activity. In fact, patients should add a reasonable exercise regimen to counteract central fatigue of liver disease. A healthy sleep schedule for adults is roughly 7 to 9 hours—10 hours is excessive. People with end stage liver disease may have issues with protein synthesis in the liver. Limiting protein intake is unhelpful and perhaps harmful.
