The 25-year-old is in the Intimacy vs. Isolation stage in which the successful individual creates and maintains loving intimate relationships. Therefore, asking if the patient feels loved and secure in relationships will help to determine if the patient is successful at this developmental stage. Asking the patient about a legacy is appropriate for someone in middle adulthood. The nurse would ask a pre-teen/ adolescent if he or she has an idea of what he or she wants to do in life. The nurse would ask a mature adult/early retiree about a sense of accomplishment when looking back at his or her life.
