Planning rest periods during hygiene care for a patient with severe fatigue related to anorexia nervosa is vital to promote self-reliance and recovery. Although assisting with hygiene care is necessary for the patient with extreme fatigue, autonomy should be facilitated. The patient’s preferred timing for hygiene care should be considered but providing rest periods is more important for encouraging independence in the patient. The patient might find that the energy is highest in the morning, but rest periods will still be necessary.
