A patient with diabetic neuropathy may not be able to feel how hot the bathwater is, causing a burn injury that will heal poorly due to the diabetes. Although gentle cleansers are important, this is less vital than checking the temperature of the bathwater. Soft toothbrush bristles and electric razors are important for patients who are at risk for bleeding such as those on anticoagulant therapy. These are less important than bath water temperature for a patient with diabetic neuropathy.
