A leg bag can be used to drain the ureterostomy while the patient is sleeping to prevent overfilling of the collection bag. Shrinking of the stoma is expected; an appointment with the surgeon is unnecessary. However, because of the shrinking of the stoma, a new template may be necessary; the hole should be no more than 3 mm larger, not 5 mm, than the stoma to protect the skin. Although the patient can shower with the stoma, the flow of water should not be directed at the stoma.
