The neonate with absent end diastolic flow has been subjected to an insufficient placenta, which results in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) due to decreased flow from the placenta into the fetus. The neonate who experience fetomaternal hemorrhage would appear anemic and hypoxic. The receiving twin in twin-to-twin transfusion is likely polycythemia, possibly cyanotic, large for gestational age, and lethargic.
