Delegation is one of the crucial tasks of nurses (delegator) that involve directing other personnel (delegatee) to perform functions and tasks related to patient care. There are three essential components of delegation, namely, responsibility, authority, and accountability. Responsibility refers to the need to perform the tasks reliably and completely. Authority is the capacity to accomplish the task according to nurse practice and standards, while accountability is the professional and legal liability of the nurse to the outcomes of care.
