Left arm numbness and slurred speech are signs of a cerebrovascular accident, or stroke; treatment must be started immediately in order to prevent permanent neurologic damage. The patients with broken femurs, controlled bleeding from gunshot wounds, and minor head trauma require care but can wait until after the patient with suspected CVA is treated.
