Although the patient requires dobutamine, milrinone, furosemide, and dopamine to be infused continuously, the drug that must be restarted first is the dopamine which only remains in the patient’s system for less than 5 minutes before serum levels drop and the patient will become dangerously hypotensive. Dobutamine has a 10-minute duration and is started next. Furosemide remains in the system for two hours. Milrinone has a duration of 3-5 hours. Therefore, these two are of a lower priority to restart than the dopamine.
