Great care must be taken to prevent hypertension and further bleeding in the patient with hemorrhagic stroke. Aspirin and clopidogrel increase the risk for bleeding. Loperamide is an antidiarrheal; it can cause constipation. Constipation can lead to straining while stooling which can increase intracranial pressure. Bisacodyl sodium is appropriate to prevent the patient from straining while stooling, which is why loperamide is contraindicated. Nicardipine is appropriate to decrease blood pressure.
