The most appropriate patient to be assigned to the LVN/LPN is the patient with dementia and stable angina. A new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus will require frequent assessment and intervention by a registered nurse. Intravenous antibiotics through a central line is outside of the scope of practice of an LPN/LVN. The patient with a history of congestive heart failure and new onset chest pain requires the assessment and care of a registered nurse and is outside the scope of practice of an LPN/LVN.
