Low-risk therapies are defined as interventions which carry little to no risk or adverse effects. They can be used as a treatment by the patient, a nurse, or someone skilled and practiced in their use. Of the therapies listed above, meditation, yoga, and massage are identified as low-risk therapies. Others include prayer, music or art therapy, positive imagery, and relaxation techniques. Herbal remedies, acupuncture and hormone replacement therapies can have adverse effects in some cases and are not considered low-risk therapies.
