Neonates born with Protein C Deficiency develop neonatal purpura fulminans, which is characterized by diffuse purpuric rash and disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC), which may present as clots in the peripheral microvascular resulting in necrotic digits. Factor X deficiency presents with excessive bleeding times. Von Willebrand disease, a deficiency of von Willebrand's factor, leads to excessive bleeding as well. Endogenous heparin deficiency is less specific but would lead to clotting problems, although not as impressive as Protein C deficiency.
