A “Do Not Resuscitate” tattoo is not a legally binding advanced directive and may not represent the patient’s current wishes. The most appropriate action is to institute any and all life-saving measures for this patient. The patient’s next-of-kin should be contacted, but this step should not impede the delivery of life-saving care. Naloxone is unhelpful in benzodiazepine overdose. The tattoo cannot direct treatment, so withholding any necessary interventions is not appropriate.
