Electroacupuncture should not be performed in patients with cardiac arrhythmias, epilepsy, pregnancy, and blood infections, among others. Therefore, the patient with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome should not receive electroacupuncture due to the risk for dangerous cardiac arrhythmias. Febrile seizures usually occur in childhood and are not related to epilepsy. A negative hCG test means the patient is not pregnant. A positive respiratory PCR indicates the patient has a common cold, which does not preclude the patient from receiving this therapy.
