Sending an email to the physician’s supervisor reporting the behavior may be appropriate if the physician refuses to wear proper PPE after being reminded. Although the nurse can contact the charge nurse regarding the situation, it’s important that the physician don PPE immediately, and this delays intervention. Speaking with the physician after the assessment is finished prolongs exposure to the organism and is inappropriate.
