Prolonged fever, strawberry tongue, diffuse rash, and reddened, painful palms of the hands and soles of the feet are indicative of Kawasaki disease. Scarlet fever can have a similar presentation to Kawasaki disease (namely, strawberry tongue); however, one of the distinguishing characteristics of the rash in Scarlet fever is that it blanches white when pressure is applied. The patient’s symptoms do not point to juvenile RA or HFMD.
