The patient with clots in the continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) outflow should have the CBI flow rate increased to ensure patency of the system. The patient with left-sided heart failure is likely fluid restricted; increasing fluid intake may compromise the patient’s cardiovascular system. A CBC is unnecessary as clots are expected after a transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Heparin is not indicated so soon after the resection due to the risk of bleeding.
