Following cataract surgery, the patient’s vision and depth perception will change. New prescriptions and adjustment to depth perception are necessary. The patient should be taught to minimize abrupt increases in intracranial pressure – therefore, a high-fiber diet with increased fluids will help prevent straining at stooling. The patient should not lift heavy objects for 10, not 4 weeks. The eye shield will be necessary when sleeping for a few weeks, not lifelong.
