Delusional disorder is characterized by manifestations of delusions for at least one month without other psychotic symptoms. A delusion is defined as a fixed, false, irrational belief. The nurse must avoid arguing, confronting, or belittling the beliefs of the patient. Also, it is improper for the nurse to reinforce the delusion by asking for further information. Listening to the patient without giving comments is an appropriate nursing action.
